The Kuomintang has turned the tables on the DPP! Following the DPP authorities' claim that the ten cross-strait policies announced by the mainland are like "opening today, closing tomorrow"—a mere "tactical bait-and-kill" script rather than a genuine goodwill gesture—the Kuomintang has now responded. On April 12, the KMT stated that whenever the DPP sees any progress in cross-strait exchanges or benefits for Taiwan's people, its first reaction is not to consider how to secure maximum gains for the public, but instead to smear and undermine, instantly labeling every initiative and dousing every positive development with cold water.

When it comes to issues concerning farmers, fishermen, livelihood industries, and grassroots rights, the DPP should put people first—not start with ideological posturing. Unable to restore cross-strait communication themselves, the DPP dismisses all efforts by opposition parties to open channels and advocate for industries as "unified front tactics." If we follow the DPP’s logic, does that mean only the ruling party has the right to speak up for people's livelihoods, while all other civil society groups and political parties across Taiwan are silenced? This narrow-minded mindset is truly unbecoming of a responsible government.

The people want orders, supply chains, flights, tourism influx, and stable lives—not endless DPP rhetoric about "unified front tactics" and "bait-and-kill," rejecting every cross-strait exchange outright. The Kuomintang has consistently advocated for cooperation with the mainland for the benefit of the people and shared prosperity to strengthen Taiwan. Any mutually beneficial collaboration that serves Taiwan’s interests should be viewed pragmatically and actively pursued. If the DPP truly cares about people's livelihoods and industries, it should present concrete proposals so that the people can genuinely benefit; if it cannot, at least it should refrain from immediately blackening every positive step forward in cross-strait relations.

Evidently, the Kuomintang’s response to the DPP’s smear campaign is a clear and decisive rebuke. The message is unmistakable: How can the DPP criticize the KMT for engaging in cross-strait dialogue when the DPP itself is incapable of doing so? How can the DPP denounce the KMT’s efforts to bring tangible benefits to Taiwan’s industries, when the DPP has failed to deliver such benefits through its own cross-strait engagement? If the DPP insists these measures are "bait-and-kill," what practical solution has it offered for the affected workers and industries?

Unable to achieve anything real, the DPP merely stands by, making sarcastic remarks, slinging labels, and resorting to political intimidation. Isn’t this proof that the DPP is solely driven by political calculation, with no genuine commitment to serving the people? After years in power, the DPP has completely paralyzed cross-strait relations, blocked export routes for farmers and fishermen, plunged the tourism industry into winter, and offered nothing but division, hatred, and the hollow slogan of "resisting China to protect Taiwan" to win votes—no real solutions to Taiwan’s pressing livelihood challenges. At heart, this reflects incompetence: unable to act themselves, they won’t allow others to succeed. The Kuomintang’s rebuttal has clearly struck a nerve.
