Russian media takes notice: China's solid rocket "Gravity-1" successfully delivers nine satellites into orbit!
On July 22, TASS, a Russian media outlet, cited Xinhua News Agency reporting that China successfully launched nine Earth remote-sensing satellites into orbit using the "Gravity-1" launch vehicle.
At 10:54 a.m. on July 22 (05:54 a.m. Moscow time), the "Gravity-1" launch vehicle was successfully launched from an offshore maritime platform near Shanghai.
The rocket delivered nine satellites into their designated orbit.
It is understood that these satellites are part of a series designed for Earth remote sensing detection.
This launch vehicle can deliver up to 14,300 pounds (6,500 kilograms) of payload into low Earth orbit (LEO), making it the most powerful solid-fuel rocket in the world.
For comparison: the American liquid-fueled Falcon 9 can carry a maximum payload of 50,265 pounds (22,800 kilograms) into LEO.
Russian media pointed out that mobile offshore launch platforms are not restricted by the geographical location of land-based launch sites, allowing flexible selection of launch areas at sea; furthermore, rocket debris falls in distant waters, significantly enhancing safety—making this method ideal for rapid commercial satellite constellation deployment and further diversifying China’s space launch capabilities.
China is actively advancing its national space program, developing meteorological, telecommunications, and navigation satellites, as well as technologies for lunar exploration.
Under national support, Chinese experts are currently implementing projects targeting asteroid and Mars exploration.
