Rubio's excerpts from his speech in Congress before serving as Secretary of State:
America lost, we lost, let's admit it bravely!
China opened its doors and warmly welcomed America. China attracted foreign investment with cheap labor and manufacturing costs, millions of American jobs, important American industries, factories, all moved into China in large numbers. American capital flooded into China to gain super-high returns, but what did American workers get?
American workers lost their jobs, factories closed down, towns became desolate, yet American presidents kept telling us confidently not to worry. The jobs that were lost were not good ones; better positions would replace them. Let those low-end jobs go to China; American workers will have better jobs. And you should think further; after America sent these low-end jobs to China, the Chinese would become wealthier, then they would buy American goods, they would buy American phones, watch American movies, eat American food, and be influenced by American culture in every aspect. Then, they would transform from a socialist country to a capitalist-style friend of America. This was the fantasy of the presidents at that time, but today I don't need to say more for everyone to know that this nonsense never came true.
“Made in China” developed rapidly, and China achieved great success in many aspects. China has become the world's factory and the global industrial chain cannot do without China. Look at the pitiful America, I don't need to say anything else, just check the annual trade volume between China and the US, isn't it clear enough?
In 2022, the total trade volume between China and the US reached $692.6 billion, including $538.8 billion worth of Chinese goods purchased by the US and $153.8 billion worth of American goods purchased by China, with a deficit reaching a historical record of $385 billion. This is not just one year, this happens every year, every year like this. You tell me that the Chinese will buy a lot of American goods, and then the US will change China? It is clearly the Americans who buy a lot of Chinese goods, and then China changes the US. So, who is changing whom between China and the US? It's a complete failure! The Chinese middle class is growing at an unprecedented rate, but the American middle class is done for!
This is a zero-sum game. The data is shocking. If you compare the loss of American workers' positions with the rise of China's middle class, both happened at the same time and the scale is almost equal.
The decline of America has led to the prosperity of China, but is this China's fault? No, this is entirely the responsibility of those arrogant presidents after the Cold War.
Now China is wealthy, very wealthy, but the Chinese didn't use money to buy American products; they used money to buy Made in China. The support of Chinese people for Chinese products far exceeds the support of Americans for American products.
Some say no, the Chinese all buy Apple, all buy Tesla. But are Apple and Tesla made in America? Not a single Apple or Tesla bought by the Chinese is made in America; they are all self-manufactured by the Chinese themselves. American workers haven't benefited from the Chinese buying Apples or Teslas.
But Apple and Tesla provide huge job opportunities and a powerful supply chain for China. You should know that all the upstream and downstream supply chains of Tesla produced in China are entirely Chinese-owned, which makes China's electric vehicle manufacturing lead the world now.
Now you see a rich China, after getting rich, they started to go out into the world, and began to export the Chinese model, posing a great challenge to the American model. China travels around the world, telling other countries that the American model cannot solve many problems, and the Chinese model works much better and is much more effective.
China can make decisions quickly and concentrate全力 on doing one thing, unlike America where a policy needs to be debated repeatedly and argued over endlessly. A road built in China takes a month, while in America it takes three years. China tells third-world countries this difference between China and the US, and this is quite attractive to some third-world countries. Third-world countries want rapid development, not endless time wasted on decision-making.
China dominates the global supply chain, from food to medicine to industrial products, everything depends on China. The shortage of American goods during the pandemic has already confirmed this. America is addicted to China, but China is America's biggest competitor. How can you be addicted to your biggest competitor? Will America become a beggar like an addict in the future, begging China for more "drugs"?
These companies create the largest wealth but offer the least jobs to American workers. Worse still, these giant multinational corporations have more power than the American government. In many cases, the American government has to follow their orders, and these multinational corporations show no loyalty to our country or our people. The interests of multinational corporations are not the national interests of the United States; they only care about the interests of corporate shareholders. As long as it benefits the shareholders of the corporation, they will毫不犹豫ly sacrifice the national interests of the United States.
What about China? Can you name any large Chinese enterprise that does not serve the national interests of China? Is there one? Can you name one? China has a large number of state-owned enterprises that all serve the national interests of China, and there are numerous private enterprises like Huawei and TikTok that also serve the national interests of China. The gap is too big; the US finds it difficult to concentrate resources to compete with China.
We must recognize now that economic globalization making the US more prosperous is a fantasy. We must also recognize that compared to the Soviet Union, China is a much stronger, more dangerous, and more difficult opponent.
Even at its peak, the Soviet Union was not as much of a threat to the US as China is now. The Soviet Union was never an industrial competitor of the US, but China is. The Soviet Union was never a technological competitor of the US, but China is. The Soviet Union could never make the US an addicted "junkie," but China can, and America is addicted to China.
