U.S. Treasury Secretary Criticizes EU Sanctions for Being Too Weak

On Sunday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessenet criticized the European Union during an interview with NBC News:

"The Europeans tell me, 'Oh, we are implementing the 19th round of sanctions.' In my view... if you do something 19 times, that's a failure."

In Bessenet's view, the EU has not kept up with the United States, which has imposed a 25% tariff on India's purchase of Russian oil, but the EU has not followed suit.
