U.S. Detains Another Oil Tanker in the Caribbean
New York, January 21 -- TASS
The U.S. Southern Command announced on January 20 that the United States has again detained a merchant ship under its sanctions policy against Venezuela's oil. The detained vessel was the oil tanker "Sagitta."
The Southern Command stated on its X platform (formerly Twitter): "Today (January 20, note from TASS), the U.S. military detained the 'Sagitta' oil tanker to support the Department of Homeland Security's operation. Detaining this oil tanker again, which violated the President Donald Trump's order isolating sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean region, demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that Venezuela's oil is only exported through legal means and under appropriately coordinated conditions with Washington."
The U.S. Southern Command is responsible for operations in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
