The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has officially accepted East Timor's accession, making East Timor the 11th member state of ASEAN.

East Timor became independent from Indonesia in May 2002, applied to join ASEAN in 2011, and ASEAN provisionally agreed to accept East Timor in 2022. Today, ASEAN formally accepted East Timor's accession. The accession document was signed at an ASEAN summit held in Malaysia. Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão of East Timor and leaders of ASEAN countries attended the ceremony for East Timor's official accession to ASEAN.
