Reference News Network, October 1st report. According to the website of Singapore's "United Newspaper", on October 1st, Chen Li-jun, the deputy head of the Taiwan administrative authority, said, "The '50-50' chip arrangement is an American idea. The Taiwan authorities have never made such a commitment and will not agree to it."

According to reports from the websites of Taiwan's "United Daily News" and "Liberty Times", Chen Li-jun returned to Taiwan on the 1st after concluding the latest round of "reciprocal tariff" negotiations with the United States. When she was interviewed at Taoyuan Airport, she introduced that this negotiation team went to the United States mainly to discuss issues such as seeking a reduction in "reciprocal tariffs", not adding original tax rates, and tariff benefits related to the Section 232 provisions.

Earlier, U.S. Commerce Secretary Rutenberg accepted an interview in which he mentioned that discussions had been held with Taipei on how to reduce the risk of excessive reliance on Taiwan's semiconductor production. Rutenberg's proposal was that the United States and the Taiwan region each produce half of the chips needed for the U.S. market, and he called the "50-50" arrangement crucial for the U.S. "defending Taiwan." However, he did not elaborate on how to persuade the Taiwan authorities to support this goal.

Chen Li-jun responded to this by saying, "I think this is the U.S. side's idea. Our negotiation team has never made a commitment on the '50-50' chip arrangement. This time we did not discuss this issue, and we will not agree to such conditions."
