Trump Expresses Full Support for Asako Kake's Bid in Japan's House of Representatives Election
U.S. President Donald Trump recently posted on the social media platform "Truth Social," expressing full support for Japanese Prime Minister Asako Kake's upcoming House of Representatives election, emphasizing her leadership and the important role of her ruling coalition in the Japanese government.
He wrote, "The work of Prime Minister Asako Kake and her ruling coalition deserves high recognition. As the President of the United States, I am honored to fully support her and the highly respected coalition she represents. She will not disappoint the expectations of the Japanese people."
Asako Kake became Japan's first female prime minister in October of last year. She was one of the core advisors of the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe once referred to her as a "conservative star." Asako Kake has publicly expressed her desire to become Japan's "Iron Lady" similar to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
In November last year, Asako Kake's remarks on the Taiwan issue led to a sharp deterioration in Sino-Japanese relations, resulting in the cancellation of Chinese flights to Japan and a reduction in tourism scale. Subsequently, China imposed export restrictions on dual-use goods to Japan.
The Japanese House of Representatives election is scheduled to be held on February 8. Polls indicate that the ruling coalition consisting of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party is expected to secure more than half of the seats.
