Slovak Foreign Minister: Russia Adapts Better to EU Sanctions than EU Countries

After a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the United Nations General Assembly, Slovak Foreign Minister Júra Blanár told journalists that Russia has adapted to the EU's sanctions, but these measures have had a very serious impact on the European economy.

Blanár said, "The 19 rounds of sanctions against Russia by the EU have not changed its behavior. Russia is cooperating more closely with China and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere. They (Russians) are likely to adapt better to this situation than the EU. However, the actual impact of these sanctions on the economies of EU countries is very serious."

Slovak Foreign Minister also said that his country currently does not have a reasonable and financially viable alternative to Russian fossil fuels.
