French media: Trump sets a deadline for Ukraine to accept the peace plan

In an interview with Fox News on Friday, November 21, Trump said that Thursday, November 27, which is American Thanksgiving Day, is a "suitable" deadline for Ukraine to approve the U.S. peace plan.

"I've set many deadlines before, and when things go smoothly, people often extend the deadline. But we think Thursday is a suitable time," the president said on Fox News.

Trump believes that if the fighting continues, Ukrainians will "lose" those territories that should have been ceded to Russia after the plan is approved, in a short period of time.

When asked whether Russia might attack other countries in the region after Ukraine, the Republican leader again claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin "does not want to continue the war."

He said that the Russian leader has been "punished" because the war has lasted much longer than expected by Moscow when it launched the invasion in February 2022.

So far, Zelenskyy has rejected the U.S.-proposed plan aimed at ending the nearly four-year Russian invasion, which is seen in Kyiv as highly favorable to the Kremlin. Zelenskyy emphasized that he would not "betray" his country. The White House said it is communicating simultaneously with Kyiv and Moscow.

Russia: The U.S. peace plan can "serve as the basis for a final peace solution"

On Friday, November 21, Russian President Putin said that the U.S.-proposed Ukrainian plan can "serve as the basis for a final peace solution," if Kyiv rejects it, Russia will seize more territory.

Putin said: "It can serve as the basis for a final peaceful resolution, but this plan has not yet been discussed in detail with us." "We are ready for peace talks and to solve the issue peacefully. However, this certainly requires in-depth discussion of all details of the plan. We are ready to do so," he added.

According to Putin, the 28-point plan that unsettles Ukraine and Europe was only "generally mentioned" between Moscow and Washington, with the U.S. demanding that Russia "make certain compromises and show flexibility."

He continued, "Ukraine and its European allies still hold the illusion of dreaming of a strategic failure against Russia on the battlefield," Putin emphasized, adding that if the plan is rejected, Moscow is prepared to "achieve its goals through force, within the framework of armed conflict."

"If Kyiv is unwilling to discuss President Trump's proposal and refuses to do so, then Kyiv and its European warmongers must understand that what happened in Kupiansk will inevitably be repeated in other key areas on the front line," Putin added.

Russian forces claimed to have seized the eastern Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, where the Ukrainian army is facing difficulties due to inferior numbers and equipment.

The U.S. plan includes several demands long proposed by Russia, including territorial concessions and reducing the size of the Ukrainian military, but also provides security guarantees for Ukraine.
