Chinese man robbed of 5 million yen on the streets of Osaka, suspect arrested
On March 17, the Osaka police announced the arrest of two 18-year-old men.
This February, a Chinese man was attacked with an electric shocker on the street in the Sumiyoshi Ward of Osaka City, and his bag containing 5 million yen (about 220,000 RMB) was robbed.
The incident occurred on the street of Shinsaibashi in the Sumiyoshi Ward of Osaka City. At around 5:30 pm on February 25, the police received a report that a man had been beaten. The victim was a 37-year-old Chinese man living in Kanagawa Prefecture.
At the time of the incident, at least two men used an electric shocker to attack him and stole a bag containing 5 million yen in cash. The man suffered serious injuries including a broken nose. The victim was walking to buy something when he suddenly felt an electric current on his side abdomen and was also hit in the face.
The two men were wearing black clothes and hats, one of them wore a mask, and the police are investigating it as a robbery and injury case.
The two unemployed 18-year-old men living in Kobe City were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault. One is a driver, and the other is a security guard. Both have confessed to the charges.
