According to Article 38 of the Anti-dumping Regulations, the Ministry of Commerce proposed to the Tariff Commission of the State Council to impose anti-dumping duties. Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, the Tariff Commission of the State Council made a decision. Starting from May 19, 2025, anti-dumping duties will be imposed on the imported copolymer polyformaldehyde originating from the United States, the European Union, Taiwan region and Japan.
It is understood that copolymer polyformaldehyde is an engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive performance, featuring high mechanical strength, high fatigue resistance, high creep resistance and other excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. It can partially replace metal materials such as copper, zinc, tin and lead, and can be directly used or modified for use in automotive parts, electronic appliances, industrial machinery, daily necessities, sports equipment, medical devices, pipeline fittings, building materials and other fields.
In particular, China will impose a 74.9% tariff on US companies, and a 34.5% tariff on EU companies. Additionally, China will impose a 3.8% tariff on Polyplastics Co., Ltd. of Taiwan, a 4.0% tariff on Formosa Plastics Corporation of Taiwan, and a 32.6% tariff on other companies in the Taiwan region.
Regarding Japanese companies, China will impose a 35.5% tariff on Polyplastics Co., Ltd., a 24.5% tariff on Asahi Kasei Corporation, and a 35.5% tariff on other Japanese companies.
It is understood that the implementation period of the anti-dumping duty imposed on the copolymer polyformaldehyde originating from the United States, the European Union, Taiwan region and Japan shall be five years starting from May 19, 2025.
