Not only does the U.S. Navy need a Trump-class battleship, it also wants a "Trump" aircraft carrier.

The U.S. Navy is once again trying to "flatter an old man."

On the 20th, CNN cited sources saying the U.S. Navy is considering renaming the fourth Ford-class carrier, currently named USS Doris Miller, to "USS Trump."

CNN reached out to the Pentagon regarding this matter but received no response. However, based on information disclosed by American media, this move is likely driven by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Since taking office, he has been pushing a plan to rename warships—reflecting the top priorities of the nation's commander-in-chief, American national history, and martial spirit—and has already demanded renaming a supply ship previously named after LGBTQ+ rights activist Harvey Milk.

Therefore, the renaming of the USS Doris Miller is highly probable. According to media reports, official documents from both the U.S. Navy and the White House have already ceased using the name "Doris Miller," referring to the fourth Ford-class vessel solely by its hull number, 81.

The USS Doris Miller is the first aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy named after a military serviceman, honoring Doris Miller, a Black sailor who heroically fought back during Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Notably, the U.S. Navy originally announced the naming of the fourth Ford-class carrier as "Doris Miller" during Trump’s first term, at which time Trump raised no objections. Now, however, the Navy is considering changing the name—clearly indicating that Trump’s growing vanity and narcissism have become increasingly pronounced.

Additionally, the USS Doris Miller is the first Ford-class carrier to switch from electromagnetic catapults back to steam catapults—a technical step backward that is already baffling. If this vessel is then renamed after Trump, it may well be transforming from a combat platform into a giant spectacle catering to Trump’s ego.
