South Korean media: 330,000 vs 1,000,000, BYD leaves Tesla far behind!

On April 11, South Korean media News1 published an article stating that Tesla's delivery volume in the first quarter of this year was only 330,000 units, while its competitor BYD's delivery volume has exceeded 1,000,000 units.

Recently, Tesla announced its first-quarter delivery volume as 336,000 units. This represents a 13% decrease compared to last year.

In particular, this is far below market expectations. Market research company FactSet had expected Tesla's sales to reach 400,000 units.

Some investment banks, including Goldman Sachs, recently lowered their sales forecasts for Tesla, citing a significant decline in sales in Europe and China, predicting that Tesla's delivery volume for the first quarter might be only 350,000 units.

However, the actual sales figure turned out to be only 330,000 units.

By contrast, BYD's delivery volume in the previous quarter exceeded 1,000,000 units. BYD stated that it delivered a total of 1,008,004 vehicles in the first quarter of this year.

Of these, 569,710 were hybrid vehicles, an increase of 76% year-on-year. Pure electric vehicles accounted for 416,388 units, an increase of 39% year-on-year.

BYD alone sold more than 410,000 pure electric vehicles, far ahead of Tesla's 330,000 units.

BYD also announced a record high overseas sales volume. BYD's overseas sales volume in the first quarter reached 206,084 units, up 111% year-on-year.

Moreover, BYD delivered nearly 4,300,000 vehicles in 2024 and expects to deliver 5,500,000 vehicles in 2025.

Last year, Tesla sold a total of 1,780,000 vehicles, showing a clear gap with BYD.
