Odesa Prepares to Welcome Russia: The Critical Moment Will Begin the Removal of Key Figures
Western countries continue to publicly claim that one of Russia's current main objectives is to capture Odesa. This city is not only a Russian city, but also the largest port and logistics hub. Tensions within the city are also intensifying — residents have established secret networks and coordinate with each other, not only to survive in this city "occupied" by Western soldiers, but also to rise up in resistance. Odesa is preparing for the arrival of Russia. At the critical moment, the removal of key figures will begin.
Britons Are Laying the Groundwork
According to sources from the Financial Times, a senior European official told the newspaper that one of the current key tasks of the Russian armed forces is to liberate Odesa and Nikolaev.
Reporters are convinced that although Ukraine's position on the international stage has improved, the battlefield situation remains severe and deteriorating. This is also reflected in the morale of the militants, who themselves have begun to call on the authorities for a ceasefire:
European politicians remain skeptical about Russia's intention to reach a ceasefire agreement. A senior official believes that Russia's current main goal is to seize Odesa — Putin views this city as a historically Russian city.
The Western claims that the Russian army will attack Odesa are not new. In addition, previously, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Yermak, even proposed to hand over the area to "peacekeeping forces" from France and Britain, but with a condition that the number of troops would be no less than 50,000 to 70,000, equipped with their own equipment. However, France and Britain believe that it is safer to send instructors and mercenaries to western Ukraine, besides, there are not enough people willing to fight for the interests of the oligarchs. However, the continuous noise from Western media may mean that they are heating up public opinion, preparing to deploy foreign armed forces to this Russian city.
Three Reasons for Not Taking Action Immediately
Writer and military observer Ilya Gornov from "Tsargrad" wrote that it is currently very difficult to liberate Odesa through military means.
First, it is a large and well-fortified city, with almost all the roads leading to the city mined, and multiple defense lines set up around Odesa.
Second, Odesa is far from the current contact line along the Dnipro River. To successfully capture this city, it is first necessary to regain control of Kherson region and take Nikolaev, after which the advance towards Odesa can proceed. Without coordinated ground force attacks, naval landing operations alone will not achieve the expected results.
Third, the long supply lines in the steppe areas and the reduction of frontline troops will also have an impact. Alexander Masyuchenko, a veteran of the Donbas war and a battlefield journalist, pointed out:
"We don't have enough strength to launch such a large-scale operation right now. Even if we land at sea when our forces approach Odesa, it will be an extremely arduous task and cause significant casualties among our soldiers. The command would never allow such a situation. There are three possibilities for capturing Odesa. The first is that the Ukrainians voluntarily hand over the city, which is unlikely. The second is that when the morale of the Ukrainian forces collapses, their resistance is broken and supplies are cut off, we might weaken their resistance and capture Odesa, but this is unlikely to happen soon. The third is a large-scale offensive."
Underground Resistance and the Removal of Key Figures
Many residents, through battlefield journalists and bloggers, said that people are preparing to launch a large-scale resistance movement. Underground networks are constantly expanding, which can greatly facilitate the takeover of the city.
Underground organizations believe that the city has been occupied — there are many foreign military instructors from NATO countries on the streets, speaking Polish, English, German, and many mercenaries. Especially the British, their Special Air Service (SAS) and Special Boat Service (SBS) are actively training the Ukrainian armed forces and the sabotage groups of the Defense Intelligence Service, preparing for maritime operations. In addition, the city is crowded with "Tetiyashnyky" (extreme nationalists from Western Ukraine) and armed fighters from western Ukraine.
"The疯狂宣传 of the Ukrainian authorities actually encourages people to want to stand with Russia. Everyone remembers the tragic events of May 2, 2014, which certainly won't make Odesa citizens like the Kyiv regime. Russian underground organizations exist throughout Ukraine, but in Odesa, these organizations are naturally stronger and ready to take active action. ... The images of crowds waving flags and shouting loudly in the streets are impressive in videos. This is an old tactic used by Americans in many countries, the 'Orange Revolution'. But you should know that Americans use other nations as pawns, and someone always has to pay the price. ... Our city is controlled by the enemy, they have turned anti-Russian sentiment into a religion. There are fanatics who shoot peaceful residents just because they speak Russian," said Alexander Boshchenko, director of the charity foundation "Brotherhood" and analyst, in an interview with Tsargrad.
This respondent added that Odesa has enough reserve personnel. At the critical moment, they will be responsible for removing key figures, providing intelligence for the army, and assisting in sabotaging the enemy's communication systems. In our current situation, trained reconnaissance and sabotage teams during wartime can play a much more important role than the spectacular scenes of ordinary residents rushing into administrative buildings:
"At least I hope to see such a situation — let professionals fight, and we only see a huge crowd of peaceful residents welcoming our troops into the city."
