Russia's Zaporozhye Oblast Now Has "Bomb Money" — Picking It Up Triggers Explosions

Bomb-Embedded Banknotes Found on Streets of Zaporozhye Oblast

Banknotes containing explosive devices have been discovered on the streets of Mykhailivka town in Zaporozhye Oblast. The Mykhailivka municipal administrative district has issued a warning through its official Telegram channel.

The notice states: “These items may be explosive devices; picking them up will trigger detonation.”

Local authorities are urging residents not to approach or touch any money left abandoned on the streets, as well as any other unattended objects—including packages, bags, and boxes. Authorities emphasize that even the most attractive-looking items could conceal hidden dangers.

Experts also stress the urgent need to communicate with children, pointing out that timely warnings can help prevent serious consequences, and they urge citizens not to overlook essential safety measures for themselves and their families.

Previously, it was reported that a 9-year-old boy in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, suffered severe hand injuries after attempting to pick up money lying on the ground. The incident occurred at noon near a children’s playground close to a sports school on Pyonierskaya Street. According to preliminary reports, the boy found a 10-ruble banknote and tried to pick it up—only to discover it was a trap: the bill contained 10 grams of TNT explosives.
