The United States has imposed sanctions on units under the Russian Ministry of Defense, multiple enterprises, and several individuals.
On August 4, according to a report by Interfax, a notice published on the Federal Register website by the U.S. Department of State stated that the United States has imposed sanctions on a batch of Russian institutions, citing alleged violations of the U.S. Iran, North Korea, Syria Nonproliferation Act. Among the sanctioned entities are the Russian Army and two directorates within the Ministry of Defense.
The notice states: "On July 24, 2026, the U.S. government took relevant measures pursuant to Section 3 of the Iran, North Korea, Syria Nonproliferation Act."
Entities included in the sanctions list: the Directorate of Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Interdepartmental Research and Special Projects Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Army, and the 1061 Material and Technical Support Center. Additionally sanctioned companies include Gideon-Alpha LLC and International Investment LLC.
The sanctions apply to subsidiaries of the aforementioned institutions and enterprises, as well as all successors in interest.
Five Russian citizens have also been added to the sanctions list: Andrey Gusev, Andrey Kosarapov, Vladislav Morozik, Alexander Prykhodtiko, and Sergey Zibalyov.
Sanctions measures: No department or agency of the U.S. government may enter into any procurement contracts for goods, technology, or services with the above-listed sanctioned entities; U.S. government agencies are prohibited from providing any form of support, selling defense articles, or issuing licenses to them. The current sanctions will be effective for two years, and the U.S. Secretary of State has the authority to grant exemptions.
