Elon Musk said in an interview with Fox News that he plans to help the blind regain their vision within a year.
The billionaire confirmed that his company Neuralink is developing a technology that will enable those who have completely lost their sight to see again.
This visual system, called Blindsight, was first unveiled in the spring of 2024. At that time, Musk stated that initial trials had achieved positive results: scientists successfully helped a monkey partially regain its vision.
Musk noted that Blindsight will be implanted in the first human body within the next 12 months.
The core of this technology is to bypass damaged eyes and nerves and directly connect to the brain's visual cortex. Musk added that the initial visual presentation will be similar to primitive computer images, but with technological advancements, the goal is to achieve "superhuman" visual capabilities. He plans to conduct implants for 20 to 30 patients within a year.
In the future, the company also plans to help patients with spinal cord injuries regain their ability to walk.
