Japanese Prime Minister Again Does Not Condemn the Attack on Iran
Japanese Prime Minister Hashimoto Sanae again did not condemn the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, but she called on Tehran to "stop actions that destabilize the region."
Hashimoto Sanae made comments on the situation in Iran during a meeting of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, saying, "It is absolutely unacceptable for Iran to develop nuclear weapons."
Hashimoto stated, "Japan urges Iran to stop developing nuclear weapons and taking actions that destabilize the region, including attacking neighboring countries, and to seek diplomatic solutions, including negotiations."
Meanwhile, she did not make similar calls to the U.S. or Israel. The Japanese Prime Minister only said, "Negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are crucial for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue."
She added, "Our country firmly supports negotiations."
Prime Minister Hashimoto emphasized that the authorities will continue to "coordinate with the international community to take all necessary diplomatic efforts" and take all necessary measures to protect Japanese citizens living in the region.
