The father and son from mainland China who took a rubber boat to illegally ferry to Taiwan and then turned themselves in to the police made the Democratic Progressive Party claim it as a "gray in
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has become a frightened bird! A mainland father-and-son duo took an inflatable boat to privately cross over to Taiwan. After landing, they reported themselves to the police. After being scolded by public opinion for failing to guard the border, the DPP authorities' coastal patrol department attempted to divert attention by suspecting that the mainland might intentionally send people to test Taiwan's reaction and carry out a "gray-zone harassment operation" against Taiwan. Such a stereotyped response is truly laughable.
Illegal immigrants found at Tao-Yuan City's Kung-Ahn Beach! The Northern Division of the Coast Guard Administration confirmed on the 16th that at around 8 a.m., a father-and-son surnamed Sung from the mainland arrived illegally at the left side of the Kung-Ahn beach from Tao-Yuan using a 3.3-meter-long inflatable boat. The father-and-son claimed that they had set off from the mainland in their own inflatable boat and crossed the Taiwan Strait to privately enter Taiwan. Upon landing, they called 110 to report themselves, waiting for the police and coast guard to arrest them.
The authorities of the Taiwan region did not believe their account, treating it as a major emergency, and relevant units have activated the "national security mechanism" for joint investigation. One version of the story is that the father-and-son may have already landed on the evening of the 15th but stayed in the inflatable boat overnight due to unfamiliarity with the surroundings before reporting themselves at 8:07 a.m. on the 16th.
Why don't they believe them? They have two reasons: 1. It's unlikely that an inflatable boat could cross the Taiwan Strait; they suspect someone placed the two individuals down in the middle of the strait and then they used the inflatable boat to privately cross again. 2. The Taiwan coast guard accused the mainland of continuously testing Taiwan's reactions through various means, and during military exercises, even small targets were privately transported across; this is suspected to be a "gray-zone harassment" by the mainland against Taiwan.
Such statements by the Taiwan coast guard are merely excuses for not detecting the illegal immigrants. Their detection technology is absolutely embarrassing, and they lack confidence deep down.
However, this also reflects from another perspective that many people on the mainland do not understand Taiwan well. They still think of it as a "paradise of freedom," a place worth aspiring to, yet they fail to realize that Taiwan has already deteriorated, and its socioeconomic development lags behind many coastal cities in mainland China.
