Media: US proposes six-month deadline to Germany to resolve Russian oil company's asset issues
Bloomberg cited sources saying that the US government has proposed a six-month grace period to Berlin to resolve the ownership of assets of Russian oil companies in Germany, which would temporarily exempt them from US sanctions.
According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration has informed German authorities that it intends to issue non-renewable, restricted licenses to Rosneft Deutschland, the German subsidiary of the Russian oil company. The German government is reviewing the proposal and plans to provide feedback in the coming days.
A source at Bloomberg said that German Economy Minister Katrin Eder plans to discuss this matter at the G7 Energy and Environment Ministers' Meeting in Toronto this week.
Previously, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz believed that the subsidiaries of the Russian oil company in Germany would be removed from the US sanctions list.
