Macron announced that a French soldier injured in a drone attack on an Iraqi base has died.
He said that Staff Sergeant Arnaud Fournier died for France in the attack.
He wrote on the social media platform X: "The attack against our forces, which have been participating in the fight against ISIS since 2015, is unacceptable. The French military presence in Iraq is entirely for counter-terrorism missions."
