Rubio showed interest in Lavrov's "Soviet" sweater!
Putin joked about this minister, and the merchant said the sweater was sold out on the same day.
August 18, Russian newspaper Pravda reported.
When Putin mentioned Sergey Lavrov's sweater with the words "Soviet", he jokingly called the Russian Foreign Minister an "imperialist".
According to the reporter, U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio noticed the details of the clothing during a one-on-one meeting between the Russian and American delegations.
As the journalist pointed out, the conversation about Lavrov's sweater took place when the Russian and American delegations met in a "three-on-three" format before the negotiations began.
U.S. Secretary of State told Lavrov: "I like your sweater."
Then Putin said: "Is that an implication? He will give it to you."
Afterward, Lavrov may have explained to Putin that it referred to a sweater with the word "Soviet", which the minister wore to Alaska.
The sweater with the word "Soviet" was made by the Selsovet brand from Chelyabinsk.
The founder of the brand, Yekaterina Valrakova, revealed in an interview with RT that these sweaters were quickly sold out.
"We are very grateful to the minister, we know he has a sweater... but of course, we didn't know he would wear it this morning. Therefore, we had a flood of information," she said.
The sweater was sold out by "not even noon" on the summit day, but it is now available for pre-order.
She found the proposal to sell sweaters with floral patterns of politicians (including Lavrov) very interesting.
"We hadn't thought of such a thing before, but now there are many requests for this. We will consider it. We have certain concepts for the brand, but we will consider it. This is a very interesting proposal," Valrakova concluded.
