Canada Post has reached an agreement with its second-largest union organization, with a 11% salary increase over three years!

After 18 months of negotiations, Canada Post has finally reached a new collective agreement with its second-largest union - the Association of Postal Officials and Assistants of Canada.

This agreement covers a three-year wage increase of 11% for more than 8,500 employees from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026, and will be retroactive to January 1, 2024. These employees are mainly responsible for managing post offices in rural areas of Canada.

In a written statement, Canada Post said that this agreement is a positive development in labor negotiations. Negotiations initially stalled and were ultimately referred to a federal arbitrator. The arbitrator pointed out that the report of the Industrial Inquiry Commission (IIC) and its "grave conclusions" had an impact on the negotiations, but even under the challenging circumstances outlined in the report, both parties demonstrated that collective bargaining was effective.

Currently, Canada Post's negotiations with the largest union - the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are still ongoing, and a vote on the latest terms will be conducted "as soon as possible".
