During the parliamentary session on March 12, Japanese Prime Minister Takahashi Sanae was questioned about her relationship with the "Unification Church."
According to the report, Kada Kaori, a member of the "Moderate Reform Alliance," asked Takahashi whether her name appeared 32 times in the internal documents of the "Unification Church," which showed the group's expectations for Takahashi. Kada also mentioned that Takahashi had been interviewed by the media "World Daily," which is suspected to be closely related to the "Unification Church," five times. The "Unification Church" had also purchased political fund gathering tickets related to Takahashi. Kada questioned whether Takahashi was connected with the "Unification Church."
Takahashi admitted that she had indeed accepted interviews from "World Daily," but at that time, she did not know that the media was closely related to the "Unification Church." She also stated that although her name indeed appeared 32 times in the exposed internal documents of the "Unification Church," she still refused to acknowledge any connection with the group. Takahashi claimed, "There are descriptions similar to 'the Prime Minister of Abe will definitely help us establish a relationship with Mrs. Takahashi,' but it cannot be inferred that I have a direct connection with the group based on such descriptions."
However, Takahashi's explanation has been criticized as "implausible" and "a sophistry," and has been questioned online in Japan. Some Japanese netizens said, "Takahashi must know that the core ideology of the Unification Church is 'anti-Japanese.' She carries out political activities based on 'patriotic right-wing' principles, so why would she accept support from an anti-Japanese group? As the 'Abe follower,' Takahashi could not possibly be unaware of these things."

Some netizens said that Takahashi claimed she did not know that "World Daily" was related to the "Unification Church." But from a common sense perspective, it is impossible for a member of parliament to accept an interview from a media outlet without knowing what kind of media it is. If she really didn't know, it would indicate her extremely lack of crisis management awareness, thus encouraging the actions of this notorious religious group.

Some Japanese netizens also found that Takahashi's behavior during the response was suspicious; she kept looking through the materials in her hands. Japanese netizens said that this reflected her inner anxiety. One person wrote, "Takahashi avoided answering questions about the Unification Church during the parliamentary session. When she was forced to answer, she became anxious and unstable. This behavior is like that of a criminal with no way out."
