Announcement of the Tariff Commission of the State Council on the Additional Tariff on Imports from the United States
Announcement No. 4 of 2025
On April 2, 2025, the US government announced that it would impose "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese imports. The actions taken by the US side are inconsistent with international trade rules and severely harm the legitimate rights and interests of China. This is a typical example of unilateral bullying behavior.
In accordance with the laws and regulations such as the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", the "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China", and the basic principles of international law, and with the approval of the State Council, starting from 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025, an additional tariff will be imposed on imports originating from the United States. The relevant matters are as follows:
1. For all imported goods originating from the United States, an additional 34% tariff will be levied based on the current applicable tariff rate.
2. Current bonded and tax exemption policies remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs will not be exempted.
3. For goods shipped from the place of origin before 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025, and imported between 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025, and 24:00 on May 13, 2025, the additional tariffs specified in this announcement will not be levied.
