On September 30th, China's self-developed world's first in-situ variable-diameter shield machine "Bianjing No.1" was launched by China Railway Huasui United Heavy Equipment Company. This is a major breakthrough in China's rail transit construction field, adding another giant equipment to high-end manufacturing.

The world's first in-situ variable-diameter shield machine "Bianjing No.1" has broken through the traditional mode of "one diameter for life" of shield machines, and has solved the global challenge of integrated construction of rail transit interval tunnels and station tunnels, providing a brand new solution for underground space development.

It is known that the disruptive breakthrough of "Bianjing No.1" shield machine lies in simultaneously and efficiently realizing in-situ variable diameter, continuous variable diameter, and large size variable diameter functions, with all technologies being internationally pioneering. It can freely adjust the diameter of the shield machine, and innovatively achieve the "one station two tunnels, continuous shaping" construction, i.e., the shield machine first excavates the interval tunnel with a small diameter, then at the station location performs "expansion" excavation to create a wider platform tunnel for the station, completes the construction of the station section, and then "shrinks" to continue excavating the next interval tunnel, without the need for disassembly or additional working shafts in between.
