[Trump: You can't declare war on an opponent 20 times stronger than you and expect others to provide missiles for you.]

On April 14, Trump commented on Zelenskyy's proposal to possibly purchase American weapons:

"He is always thinking about buying missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you must be clear that you can win the war, right? You can't declare war on an opponent 20 times stronger than you and expect others to give you missiles."

Trump mentioned that during his first term, the U.S. provided Ukraine with "Javelin" missiles. It was precisely with these "Javelin" missiles that the Ukrainian army "won their first major battle, destroying those tanks stuck in the mud":

"They eliminated those tanks with 'Javelin' missiles. There is a saying that Obama gave them blankets, while Trump gave them 'Javelin' missiles. But this should not have happened. This is really a disgrace. Cities were destroyed. Most importantly, millions of people lost their lives. Millions of people died because of three individuals. I have to say, it's three individuals. Putin is the primary responsible person. Biden, he doesn't know what he's doing, which makes him the second responsible person. And then there is Zelenskyy. All I can do is try to stop all this. I want to stop the killing."

Trump also commented on his statement on April 13 that the Russian occupying forces' attack on Sumy was "a mistake":

"The mistake lies in allowing this war to happen. If Biden were competent and if Zelenskyy were also competent - but I'm not sure if Zelenskyy is competent. I had a difficult meeting with this guy. He kept asking for more and more. During my presidency, Putin didn't even mention the issue of war, but once the election was manipulated and I was no longer in office, the war broke out. This war should not have happened."

On April 13, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was prepared to purchase a package of weapons from the U.S., including the "Patriot" air defense system. Washington has yet to deliver the promised air defense missile systems to Kyiv.
