[Kellogg: Putin's Active Break with Trump's Constructive Personal Relationship Would Be a "Gross Mistake"]
On May 27, U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Kellogg stated that Trump emphasized that Russia was "playing with fire" in the Ukraine conflict, which actually meant that the leadership of Russia would be a "major error" if they destroyed constructive personal relations with the current U.S. administration.
Kellogg said, "I think what he referred to as 'fire' is personal relationships... President Trump places great emphasis on interpersonal interactions, which can be clearly seen from his remarks. The president's intuition has never been wrong. Sometimes key decisions have to be made based on intuition without full information, and President Trump's intuition is outstanding, partly due to his private relations with other world leaders. Playing with fire means... one should not destroy relations with President Trump because maintaining such personal connections could lead to deeper cooperation between the U.S. and Russia."
Kellogg warned that Putin's active break with Trump's constructive personal relationship would be a "gross mistake."
Previously, Trump criticized Russia's actions in the Ukraine situation on the social platform Truth Social by saying it was "playing with fire." Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev responded, stating that the real disaster would be World War III, and the U.S. president should understand this. Kremlin spokesperson Peskov believed that Trump's recent emotional reactions to military strikes might be related to the urgency of promoting peace talks in the conflict.
