Sputnik News, Washington, November 22 - Democratic US Congresswoman Dina Titus told Sputnik that the US Congress can take measures to cut funding to prevent the government from resuming nuclear tests.
When asked if Congress has the ability to stop the resumption of nuclear tests, she said: "If we can cut funding, we have a chance to stop any attempt to resume experiments."
US President Trump on October 30 said that given other countries are conducting nuclear tests, he has ordered the US to conduct nuclear weapon tests "equally." He posted on the social media platform "Truth Social" that the US will immediately initiate the relevant procedures.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that if any nuclear power conducts a nuclear test, Russia will respond.
On November 5, Russian President Putin chaired a meeting of the Russian Security Council. During the meeting, Russian Defense Minister Belousov stated that he believes it is reasonable to start preparing for the resumption of nuclear tests.
