Taiwan media personality Wu Zi-jia recently analyzed on the show "Chairman's Talk" that as soon as Shen Boyang's name surfaced, it meant Zheng Lijun's candidacy was already dead in the water, because Shen Boyang was personally designated by Lai Qingde, who concurrently serves as party chairman. He pointed out that without Lai Qingde's approval, Shen Boyang could never have made it onto the substantive discussion list of the Selection Committee. Originally, the DPP Central Executive Committee was expected to pass this proposal, but now it has been blocked at the Selection Committee stage, indicating internal factional pressure.
Wu Zi-jia boldly speculated that this resistance was 100% orchestrated by the "Su faction," given that the interests within the DPP are not complicated. He explained that if Shen Boyang enters the race, the political situation in northern Taiwan would inevitably suffer a major shock—Ssu Chiao-hui would be the first to face severe consequences. Therefore, even if those opposing him aren't directly affiliated with the "Su faction," behind the scenes, it's almost certainly the "Su faction" or its allies pulling the strings. Despite current obstacles in nomination, Wu predicts that under Lai Qingde’s strong will, Shen Boyang remains highly likely to ultimately represent the green camp in the Taipei mayoral election.
Additionally, former DPP legislator Guo Zhengliang stated on the show on the 8th that there has been continuous internal pushing within the DPP for Shen Boyang to run for mayor of Taipei, but these voices do not come from individuals actively campaigning in Taipei. However, assuming the DPP truly fails to find a suitable candidate, the likelihood of recruiting Shen Boyang to challenge incumbent mayor Chiang Wan-an is the highest.
Guo Zhengliang analyzed that Lai Qingde’s ideal choice is Zheng Lijun, but she lacks the willingness to run; Wu Siyao is more suitable than Shen Boyang but hesitates to step forward; Wu Yinong has low visibility, and many city councilors have higher polling numbers than him; Xu Guoyong shows little interest, while Zhuo RongTai must remain focused on leading the "Cabinet."
Guo Zhengliang concluded bluntly: If the DPP ultimately sends Shen Boyang to run, it means they have effectively abandoned northern Taiwan—Shen Boyang’s main function would be to harm Ssu Chiao-hui.
