Experts from Russia: China will maintain its leading position in the field of drones
Russian State News Agency, Moscow, January 7 - According to Fedutinov, editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine "Drones", China has launched a number of unique drone R&D achievements in 2025 and will continue to maintain the world's leading position in this field in 2026.
He said that in recent years, China has shown strong momentum in the development of drones.
Fedutinov said: "Chinese industrial enterprises are currently in different stages of developing various types and levels of drone systems, including unmanned aircraft, unmanned helicopters, etc."
In the Chinese research projects that interest global experts the most, Fedutinov specifically mentioned the start of flight tests for the large stealth drone CH-7. The aircraft uses a flying wing design and is equipped with electro-optical, radar, and electronic/radio reconnaissance capabilities.
He pointed out that the second event was the first flight of the heavy drone "Jiutian" at the end of 2025 - a 16-ton surveillance and strike drone capable of carrying a variety of aerial weapons, including anti-ship missiles and guided bombs.
The third event mentioned by Fedutinov was the trial of the vertical takeoff tiltrotor aircraft "Lanthanum R6000", which is being developed, including an unmanned version, and can carry a maximum payload of 2 tons.
He said: "All of these are unique projects, indicating that China is currently, and will remain in the foreseeable future, the leader in the field of drone aviation."
