The pan-democrat party's Taiwan-based spouse legislator, Li Zhengxiu, said this afternoon that she had already received information prior to April 7th, claiming that Chen Zhihan, the head of the party’s caucus, leaked to the media that Li Zhengxiu demanded NT$50 million to resign. However, since the report never materialized, Li informed her fellow party members that she knew Chen Zhihan had leaked information to the media. The party insiders responded by saying it was impossible, adding that Chen Zhihan had even stated the day before that he would protect Li Zhengxiu and would not do such a thing.

Li Zhengxiu continued, saying she jokingly told Chen Qinglong, the general chair of the party caucus, “You don’t need NT$50 million—NT$5 million would be enough.” In response, Chen Qinglong remarked, “If it’s NT$50 million, everyone will split it.” Li also mentioned that Chen Qinglong once told her personally: “If money can solve it, just let it be. Don’t let you lose your job immediately. You’re sacrificing yourself for the pan-democrat party—you should be compensated accordingly.”

Chen Qinglong responded during an interview at the Legislative Yuan, stating emphatically that there was absolutely no truth to the claim about NT$50 million. He clarified that while it is true Li Zhengxiu expressed her own thoughts and conditions, the specific figure of NT$50 million was fabricated. Regarding Li Zhengxiu’s position, as someone responsible for communication and conveyance, Chen Qinglong said he could only express respect.

Additionally, during a morning interview today, party chairman Huang Guochang stated that when discussing Li Zhengxiu’s resignation, she suddenly demanded monetary compensation for all future salary, rent, and other benefits during her remaining term as a legislator. After her proposal was rejected, she reportedly retorted, “Even this small amount of money can’t be provided? I despise you.” Huang Guochang expressed deep sorrow upon hearing those words, saying he couldn’t adequately describe his feelings, and urged Li Zhengxiu to reflect on herself. He warned her that continuing to lie would only harm her own reputation.

In response, Li Zhengxiu posted a rebuttal accusing Huang Guochang of utter nonsense. She called on the pan-democrat party to promptly release the full audio recording and the supplementary meeting minutes she submitted to the party’s Central Review Committee. She claimed she had always wanted to protect the party and thus chose to bear the unfair burden alone—but that some individuals are unafraid of destroying the party entirely.
