Russian military analyst: a full-scale conflict between India and Pakistan carries the danger of triggering a nuclear war

Igor Korotchenko, a Russian military analyst and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Defense," stated that large-scale military conflicts between the armies of India and Pakistan carry the risk of escalating to the nuclear level.

Korotchenko told Sputnik: "When both sides are uncompromising, hostile, and even completely opposed to each other, things may go down the most dangerous path. This is why every effort must be made to ensure that this event is resolved as soon as possible through diplomatic channels, and if possible with the participation of third countries. But it is important to understand that both Pakistan and India are military powers, and both possess nuclear weapons and their delivery systems. Therefore, large-scale military conflicts are filled with the possibility of unpredictable behavior, including the possibility that one side or the other, or both, might resort to using nuclear forces."

In his words, such events should be resolved based on international law, without unnecessary emotions.

In Korotchenko's view, all those who can contribute to this should make the greatest efforts.

The Russian expert concluded: "Most importantly, the political and military elites of India and Pakistan should take a responsible attitude and resolve issues through diplomatic channels."
