On the 28th, the Democratic Party criticized the court's rejection of the arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, demanding to strengthen the investigation and reapply for the arrest warrant. Some hardliners within the party even proposed establishing a special tribunal for sedition to replace the court.
The Three Special Prosecutors Comprehensive Response Special Committee held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Hall in Yuyudo, Seoul on the same day, stating: "We are deeply concerned about the prosecution's decision. After strengthening the investigation, the arrest warrant must be reapplied."
"In the face of the president's direct involvement in the unconstitutional act of sedition, the prime minister, who is the second-in-command of the country, not only failed to abide by the constitution but also showed the suspicion of legitimizing the sedition. The court's rejection of the arrest warrant sends a wrong signal to the forces of sedition, which is an unacceptable decision in the eyes of the people."
The special committee also emphasized to the special prosecutors for sedition: "Do not hesitate regarding this decision; after strengthening the investigation, the arrest warrant must be reapplied, and finally, the crimes of the sedition accomplices must be clarified."
Within the hardline faction of the party, some also stated that a special tribunal for sedition should be established to replace the court. Representative Kim Yong-min of the National Assembly's Committee on Legislation and Justice said: "A special tribunal for sedition must be established immediately, and the party leadership must act decisively."
