Phoenix Finance News, June 28-29, the "2025 China Enterprise Globalization Forum" was held in Shenzhen. The forum, hosted by Phoenix, was sponsored by Snowflake's premium brand - Li, and jointly organized by the China Enterprise Globalization Council. With the theme of "For an Open World", it aims to build a high-level platform for Chinese enterprises to exchange ideas, connect resources, and dialogue on rules, systematically solving the challenges of going global, and exploring the path of ecological win-win transformation.

Guo Zhikai, Deputy Director of the Center for China Governance (CCG) and Chair Professor at Soochow University

Guo Zhikai, Deputy Director of the Center for China Governance (CCG) and Chair Professor at Soochow University attended this forum. He shared his unique insights on topics such as Sino-US relations, free trade, and the tariff war, emphasizing that China resolutely defends free trade and believes that there is an inevitable peace between China and the United States.

Guo Zhikai started with Graham Allison's book "Destined for War," and refuted the conclusion in the book that China and the United States must have a war. He believed that the war cases analyzed in "Destined for War" are not applicable to the US and China, because both China and the United States are not only conventional weapons countries, but also nuclear weapons countries.

Applying the Thucydides Trap theory to the US and China is a fallacy. Because if a war breaks out between the US and China, it will pay a heavy price, and both countries may suffer mutual destruction. Moreover, if this war escalates or gets out of control from a conventional war to a nuclear war, all of humanity could be annihilated.

Therefore, Guo Zhikai firmly believes that there cannot be a war between China and the United States, but an inevitable peace.

Regarding the tariff war, Guo Zhikai believes that China will definitely win and the US will definitely lose. China resolutely defends free trade, so the truth is on China's side. Therefore, China does not need to panic; we should stand together to help all companies that mainly export to the US, especially small and medium-sized private enterprises, to get through this difficult time. As long as they pass this difficult period, the Chinese economy will surely move towards a bright future.
