Phoenix Finance News, June 28-29, the "2025 China Enterprise Globalization Summit" was held in Shenzhen. The forum was hosted by Phoenix, with the premium series brand of Snowflake - Li as the chief sponsor, and jointly organized by the China Enterprise Globalization Council. With the theme of "For an Open World," it aims to build a high-end platform for Chinese enterprises to exchange ideas, connect resources, and dialogue on rules during the deep restructuring of the global industrial chain, systematically solving the challenges of going global and exploring the path of ecological win-win transformation.

Professor Gao Zhikai, Deputy Director of the Center for China's Globalization (CCG) and Chair Professor at Soochow University
Professor Gao Zhikai attended this forum, sharing his unique insights on topics such as Sino-US relations, free trade, and the tariff war, emphasizing that China firmly defends free trade and believes that peace is inevitable between China and the United States.
Gao Zhikai said that the United States has never intended to give up its position as the number one power, and its core dilemma lies in not allowing China to become the top power. The current United States is trapped in "two nightmares": one is the baseless fear of China surpassing itself, and the other is the fantasy that China would dominate after surpassing it.
Regarding the "China hegemony theory," Gao Zhikai clearly stated that China will never seek hegemony regardless of its strength or weakness. "Looking at Chinese history, since the Qin Dynasty, 'hegemony' has not been a positive term. During China's prosperous periods, it pursued becoming a 'virtuous ruler,' treating over 200 countries around the world equally, regardless of their size. Especially for a country like the United States, which is heavily armed, there is no need for China to compete for dominance."
Gao Zhikai also mentioned the concept of the "Donya Harding Syndrome." Donya Harding was an American figure skating national champion who, out of fear that Nancy Kerrigan from Massachusetts would surpass her, conspired with her husband to hire someone to hit Nancy Kerrigan's knee with a baton, forcing her to withdraw from the competition so that she could continue to win the national championship.
Gao Zhikai believes that Americans are currently suffering from a similar "Donya Harding Syndrome," unable to tolerate China's development and wanting to "break our knees." "I have told many Americans that this approach is meaningless. China has 1.4 billion knees. By the time you break all our knees, the world would have already changed," Gao Zhikai said.
When talking about enterprises going global, Gao Zhikai gave some warnings: "We should be alert to people who may 'break our knees.' Even the actions of local companies, police, or courts may be instigated by the United States."
