According to three知情 sources, Trump received a call from Musk on the evening of September 9th, as reported by The New York Times. Two知情 sources said that before contacting Trump, Musk had privately discussed ways to ease tensions with Vice President Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susan Wells on June 6th.

The report also stated that these conversations paved the way for Musk to post messages about Trump on social media on the same day. Musk posted that he "regretted" some of the posts he made last week regarding President Trump. The content of the posts was "too harsh," he said.
According to The New York Times, neither Trump nor Musk's representatives have responded to requests for comment.
Last week, Musk posted multiple messages on social media criticizing the massive tax and spending bill under the Trump administration. A heated verbal confrontation erupted between Musk and Trump, with both parties using strong language. On social media, Musk posted, "I regret some of the posts I made last week about President Trump. The content was too harsh." When asked if he would forgive Musk, Trump reportedly said, "I think I can."
