Foreign media: Russia plans to build a nuclear power plant on the Moon in the next decade to support its lunar program and the China-Russia joint international lunar research station.

The Russian space agency stated that the nuclear power plant is expected to be completed by 2036, and a contract has been signed with the Lavochkin Space Company. The project participants include the Russian National Nuclear Company and the Kurchatov Institute.

The United States also has a similar plan. NASA plans to deploy a nuclear reactor on the Moon in the first quarter of fiscal year 2030. International rules prohibit the deployment of nuclear weapons in space, but allow the use of nuclear energy as long as it complies with relevant regulations.
