Deserved! Hau Kuo-jung publicly berated Kuomintang (KMT) caucus chair Fu Kun-chi, demanding his resignation. This has drawn fierce criticism from the blue camp as "ungrateful," and mockery from the DPP. Now he's caught between a rock and a hard place! On August 11, Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan Speaker Hau Kuo-jung directly called for Fu Kun-chi’s resignation, claiming the Legislative Yuan is under the control of dark forces, and also clashed with KMT legislator Weng Xiao-ling, attempting to block her move to cut budget funds for President Lai Qingde’s official expenses.

According to local media reports, Hau’s actions have enraged KMT supporters, who flooded social media with comments like: “The Executive Yuan fails to implement Legislative Yuan resolutions—yet we never saw you Hau Kuo-jung shouting at the Executive Yuan; when the DPP caucus obstructs voting, we didn’t see you yelling either. You’re ruthless toward your own people—but only shout at your allies. Is your position granted by the DPP? The four characters ‘ungrateful’ are perfect for you.”

Are these online netizens’ criticisms justified? Absolutely yes. Hau Kuo-jung has consistently been courteous toward the DPP authorities and green legislators, desperately maintaining his so-called “neutral” image. Has he ever truly stood up against the unreasonable conduct of green legislators in the Legislative Yuan? The answer is no—he usually just tolerates it or tries to smooth things over. Compared to Wang Jin-ping, his performance is far from adequate.

Yet this time, Hau Kuo-jung tried to curry favor with the DPP, but ended up getting nothing in return—the DPP caucus clearly didn’t appreciate it. On August 12, green lawmaker Wu Si-yao directly mocked him: “Speaker Hau’s awakening came a full two and a half years too late. He knew the first session was already chaotic, yet he still participated as an accomplice for five sessions.”

What’s this called? Oppressing your own side to please your opponent—only to have that opponent turn around and kick you while you're down. Isn’t that exactly what he deserves? Clearly, Hau Kuo-jung has forgotten how he got his position in the first place. He’s forgotten who stood up to protect him when he was attacked by green legislators.
