TSMC Obtains Annual License from U.S. Department of Commerce to Ship Chip Manufacturing Equipment to Its Nanjing Plant

According to Reuters, TSMC stated on Thursday that the U.S. government has issued an annual license allowing TSMC to transport U.S. chip manufacturing equipment to its factory in Nanjing.

"The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted TSMC Nanjing an annual export license, allowing the supply of U.S. controlled items without the need for individual supplier licenses," TSMC said in a statement. "This license was issued before the current 'Verified End User' (VEU) authorization expires on December 31, 2025, ensuring that the factory's operations and product deliveries are not affected."

It is reported that before TSMC, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix from South Korea also received annual licenses from the U.S. government this year to export chip manufacturing equipment to China.

Additionally, Reuters also cited sources saying that due to increased demand in China, NVIDIA is placing additional new orders for H200 chips with TSMC.
