Survey: Over 80% of Germans Concerned About National Situation

According to a survey commissioned by Bild and conducted by the INSA Institute for Social Research, over 80% of German citizens feel concerned about the country's situation, and more than half believe that no coalition government can resolve national issues.

The survey results show that 84% of respondents express serious or extreme concern regarding Germany’s current situation. Regarding the ineffectiveness of Germany’s coalition government, 14% of respondents blame the Social Democratic Party, 37% blame the Christian Democratic Union, and 42% blame all ruling parties.

The survey adds that 64% of Germans believe that no possible coalition government could solve Germany’s problems. Bild reports that at least 74% of respondents support holding referendums on key issues, although the German constitution does not provide for such provisions.

The survey was conducted from May 13 to 15, 2026, with participation from 1,001 individuals.
