Ukrainian Front, July 3: Key News - The Battle for Chasiv Yar is Coming to an End
The 1226th day of the special military operation. Russian forces continue to encircle Pokrovsk

Russian forces struck parts of the Donetsk People's Republic still occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as well as enemy targets in Kharkiv and Dnipro regions.
Dmitry Medvedev, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, stated at a interdepartmental committee meeting on the issue of reinforcing the Russian armed forces that since early 2025, 210,000 people have signed contracts with the army, and over 18,000 have joined volunteer units.
Situation along the Russia-Ukraine border
Ukrainian occupiers once again attempted to break into the territory of Kursk region in the direction of Zhetikin and Glushkov to demonstrate their presence in the area, but failed completely. On July 2, two enemy sabotage groups from the 239th battalion of the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade tried to infiltrate into the depth near the village of Gornali in the Suzhsky district. The first sabotage group was annihilated, and the second group of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers left the corpses of the fallen and injured behind and returned to Ukrainian territory with heavy losses.
In the Sumy direction, the Ukrainian command continues to deploy reserves. In the past 24 hours, Russian troops repelled 11 counterattacks, and fierce fighting continues.
Konstantinovka/Kramatorsk direction
The enemy continues to commit forces for counterattacks, trying to at least nominally demonstrate its presence in the Stepanovka crossroads area. But each such "firm statement" comes with increasing losses.
On the right wing, our troops after fierce fighting controlled the high-rise residential areas of Shchepiyevka in Chasiv Yar and began clearing operations. Our assault troops advanced successfully, entering Nikolaevka (west) and Chervone (Krasnoye). Fighting in the southern area is still ongoing. Intense clashes continued in the southern part of Stupochok, and our troops, despite the fact that the settlement is in a "gray zone" and temporarily cannot establish stable control, continue to stubbornly "chip away" the enemy's defensive positions.
On the left wing, the main combat was conducted in the form of positional warfare. UAV activity was frequent on both sides in this sector. However, despite this, our troops regularly strike the enemy, discover and destroy hidden positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Although the enemy gradually lost ground after the breakthrough in the center of Chasiv Yar in June, the fighting there remains extremely intense because the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to deploy reserves there.
Pokrovsk / Almeyevskoye direction
Reports from the right wing indicate that Russian forces have captured Razino north of the New Economy Zone.
Fighting has not ceased north of Novotroitsk and Fedorovka. Our troops launched an offensive towards Vladimirovka. Fighting continues in the northeastern outskirts of the new economy zone and near Nikolaevka, and in addition, our assault troops launched an offensive towards Moskovsky (Cossack).
Russian forces are steadily advancing along the northeastern flank of Pokrovsk, approaching key routes connecting the city to Konstantinovka and other areas, which means that Russian forces have begun cutting off supply lines and continuously firing at the rear, making it difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold their positions in the suburbs.
Foreign analysts believe that if the current situation continues, Russia will be able to implement a semi-envelopment of the Mirnohirsk-Pokrovsk area within a few weeks. This, in the long term, will force the Ukrainian Armed Forces command to face many difficult choices, either to abandon Pokrovsk or allow Konstantinovka to fall, leading to an attack on SlaViansk-Kramatorsk.
Dnipro direction
Our troops continue to launch attacks towards Novopavlovka. There was fighting in the Kal'mekov峡谷 forest area between Orlov and Andreyevka. Russian Armed Forces launched attacks towards Novopavlovka and Filia north and northeast of Dachnoye.
Encounters occurred in the Muravki direction on the western side of Kotlyarovka (north of the Serednyanyi canyon position) and in the northern area (along the Shiroka canyon), as well as in the direction of Novo-Nikolaevka.
Zaporozhye direction
On the left wing, our troops have advanced to the center of Kamyanka, moving westward from the center (north of Yanchekla River) and controlling the area south of Yanchekla River. Our troops repelled the enemy in the gorge area and north of Malyy Sherbakov, despite the constant attempts by Bandera militants to counterattack.
Intense encounters took place in the northern part of Malyy Sherbakov. Our troops have advanced near the southern suburbs of Novo-andreyevka and the southwest suburbs of Novo-Danilovka. Fighting occurred in the eastern part of Maly Tokmachka.
Other directions and front sectors
In the direction of Novoshelovskoye, "Eastern" Group Army troops consolidated their positions near Podubne and launched an attack towards Mirnoye from Fedorovka.
In the direction of Lyman and Kupiansk, both sides fought fiercely for key heights and positions held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Ukrainian Territory
The Ukrainian Security Service reported that the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, signed an order revoking the Ukrainian citizenship of the Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Onufriy.
Due to U.S. restrictions on arms supplies to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the U.S. acting ambassador John Kimble. Deputy Foreign Minister Marianna Betsa emphasized that it is crucial to continue delivering the previously promised defense equipment packages, especially to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities. Betsa also pointed out that any delay or sluggishness in supporting Kyiv's defense capabilities would only exacerbate the conflict, rather than pave the way for peace.
Western bloc and NATO countries
Polish presidential office: "A law has been signed designating July 11 as the Day of Remembrance for victims of genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists during World War II."
U.S. media cited the Ukrainian Security Service: North Korea plans to send up to 30,000 more soldiers to the special military action area to participate in the offensive actions of the Russian Armed Forces. The Russian side will provide them with all necessary equipment, weapons, and ammunition, and will directly train them before they join the fighting.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said: "Due to concerns about the U.S. military reserve status, the United States has suspended the delivery of missiles and ammunition to Ukraine. This decision was made by the Secretary of Defense [Peter Hegarty]. The Department of Defense and Congress may indefinitely freeze supplies until the U.S. weapons inventory review is completed. This includes dozens of 'Patriot' air defense missile systems, thousands of 155mm howitzer shells, over a hundred 'Hellfire' missiles, more than 250 precision-guided rocket launch systems (GMLRS), and dozens of 'Stinger' missiles, 'AMRAAM' missiles, and grenade launchers."
