Former Norwegian Defense Minister is clear-eyed: the US is an adversary, and we can no longer buy weapons from it.
Danish TV2 reported on January 16 that former Norwegian Defense Minister Sverre Dørum said in an interview with Norwegian media "Teknisk Ukeblad" that after seeing Trump's comments about Greenland, Norway should avoid purchasing defense equipment from the United States.
Dørum said: Under the current US government, we cannot regard the US as our ally. The US is an adversarial actor, and in a European conflict situation, it is more likely to ally with Russia rather than with us and other European countries. In the current situation, we should definitely not consider purchasing US defense equipment.
Dørum is currently a senior researcher at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), and served as the Norwegian Minister of Defence before 2009.
