Soureforeign.com reported on April 12 that according to a report by Sin Chew Daily on April 11, the China-ASEAN Media and Think Tank High-level Forum was held in Kuala Lumpur on April 11. About 260 representatives from more than 160 media outlets, think tanks, government agencies, and enterprises from China and ASEAN countries attended the forum to engage in in-depth exchanges around the theme of "Gathering New Momentum for China-ASEAN Cooperation."
This forum was co-hosted by Bernama, the national news agency of Malaysia, and Xinhua News Agency, focusing on three major topics to discuss how to further deepen traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and ASEAN under the current complex and changing global situation, and promote the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
According to the conference communiqué, as key forces driving regional cooperation, promoting common prosperity, maintaining regional stability, and enhancing the voice of the Global South, China and ASEAN media and think tanks should give full play to their bridging role and jointly tell the story of China-ASEAN cooperation.
The communiqué stated that media and think tanks should uphold the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, advocate peace, development, and cooperation, further consolidate consensus, deepen strategic alignment, and play a unique role of media and think tanks in regional cooperation.
The forum also focused on the opportunities and challenges brought by the development of artificial intelligence (AI). The communiqué pointed out that media and think tanks should actively embrace technological innovation, make good use of AI technology to drive content innovation and value dissemination, while paying attention to ethical risks and safety boundaries, leading society to rationally understand technological transformation, and build a safer and more inclusive intelligent future.
