According to experts, strong magnetic fields are one of the most important extreme conditions for modern scientific experiments. Scholars around the world have been very active in scientific research under strong magnetic field conditions, achieving a large number of original major results in physics, chemistry, materials science, and biology. Flat-top pulse magnetic fields are at the forefront of strong magnetic field technology, combining the advantages of steady-state and pulse magnetic fields, capable of achieving high magnetic field strength while maintaining high stability over a period of time, providing unique experimental conditions for research such as nuclear magnetic resonance.
The pulsed strong magnetic field experimental facility is a major national science and technology infrastructure project undertaken by Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In this test, addressing two major challenges under strong electromagnetic forces - the stability of magnetic body structures and precise current control - the team also achieved new breakthroughs in materials and control technologies. They not only independently developed domestic high-strength silver-copper alloy conductors, increasing tensile strength by nearly 40% compared to the original material, but also innovatively transformed the transient control problem into inverse circuit topology design, enabling precise generation of pre-designed magnetic field waveforms.
It was reported that the 71.36 Tesla flat-top pulse magnetic field intensity created by Professor Liang Li's team this time is approximately 19% higher than the current level abroad.
