According to a report by Reuters on May 5 local time, registration data released by the industry organization ANFAC showed that from January to April this year, sales of electric vehicles including pure electric and hybrid vehicles in the Spanish car market increased by 54%, while Tesla's sales in the local market decreased by 17% compared to the same period last year.

Among them, Tesla's sales in April dropped significantly by 36% year-on-year. In contrast, this year, sales of Chinese automakers BYD and MG in Spain increased by 644% and 80%, respectively.

Foreign media said that Tesla's sales decline was due to two reasons. One reason came from competition with Chinese electric vehicle companies, and the other was due to Tesla CEO Elon Musk's repeated public support for right-wing politics in Europe, which led to widespread consumer boycotts of Tesla in the United States and Europe.

In late April, The Wall Street Journal reported that due to the continuous decline in Tesla's stock price, some investors were dissatisfied with Musk's involvement in politics. Tesla's board of directors has contacted headhunting firms and started looking for a new CEO.

Subsequently, Musk and the Tesla board denied the news. Musk also mentioned that starting in May, he would "significantly reduce the time spent on government efficiency and invest more time in Tesla." White House Chief of Staff Susan Rice recently revealed that Musk is no longer physically present at the White House.
