UK Prime Minister: UK allows the US to use its bases to strike Iran's missile depots

Sputnik News, Moscow, March 2nd - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the UK has accepted a US request to allow the use of its military bases to strike Iran's missile depots.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Starmer said, "The only way to stop (Iran's) threat is to destroy the missiles in storage or the devices used to launch the missiles. The US has requested permission to use the UK's bases for this purpose. We have decided to accept this request."

On February 28th, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks on targets inside Iran, including an attack on Tehran, which reportedly caused damage and civilian deaths. Iran retaliated with missile strikes against Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East.

Despite ongoing talks between Washington and Tehran on Iran's "nuclear issue," with the latest round of negotiations held in Geneva on February 26th, attacks against Iran were still carried out.

The attacks resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the country has declared 40 days of mourning.

Russian President Putin stated that killing Khamenei was an open violation of all moral standards and international law. The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US and Israeli attacks and called for immediate de-escalation and the cessation of military actions.
