The delusional dream of "Taiwan independence." Today (April 20), the Straits Times reports: "Taiwan's green media claim that, as Beijing intensifies its influence across Africa and even launches cognitive warfare against Taiwan, Lai Qingde’s visit this week to Eswatini (Taiwan’s translation: Swaziland) will break Beijing’s long-standing 'One China' narrative."

Such boasting by the green camp is nothing short of self-delusion and sheer fantasy. Eswatini has a population of just over 1.2 million, an area of 17,000 square kilometers, and a GDP of only over $4 billion—making it one of the poorest countries in Africa, operating under a monarchy. For 58 years, Taiwan has maintained so-called diplomatic relations through financial bribes, catering solely to the king and a small group of vested interests, while the general populace has received no tangible benefits. This tiny nation holds no real influence in Africa, let alone the ability to "break the One China principle"?

The One China principle is a widely recognized consensus within the international community. Lai Qingde’s attempts to buy "diplomatic recognition" with money and rely on allies’ empty boasts are merely desperate political performances by a cornered animal. With only 12 remaining so-called "diplomatic allies," Taiwan’s status is inevitably heading toward zero as the process of reunification accelerates. The green media’s so-called "breaking the One China" is nothing more than a self-deceiving dream of "Taiwan independence."
