Foreign media: China announced that it will impose a phased port fee on U.S. related ships starting from October 14, 2025, as a response to the U.S. announcement of port fees targeting Chinese ships.
These fees apply to ships owned or operated by U.S. companies, organizations, or individuals, as well as ships held by more than 25% by U.S. entities, or built or registered in the United States.
The fees will be gradually increased, starting at 400 RMB per net ton on October 14, and reaching 1120 RMB per net ton by April 2028. A single ship can be charged a maximum of five times within a year, and only during its first arrival at a Chinese port.
